2 In April

For a while before Ally's birthday when we asked he how old she was going to be she would reply '2 , in April.' It was very cute, but now if you ask her when she turned 2 she will talk about something else, like her friend Ava who is turning 1 in April!
Ally keeps us very amused with her impressive conversational skills. Last Sunday as we were driving around the circle they were getting ready for the Little League Parade. There were people sitting out on the curbs, so I rolled down the windows and told Ally to wave. We drove a little slow, but I don't think anyone noticed her. Since then when we go around the circle she asks to wave to people, but there isn't anyone there. Today though, we were driving past the Middle and High Schools just as they were getting out for the day. Ally had her window down and she shouted 'Hi' to a couple of girls who responded in kind to which Ally replied 'Thank you!' Then, as we passed more kids she began shouting any random thing she saw like 'flowers, motorcycle, yellow!' She didn't get any more replies, but mommy got a good laugh.
We tried to keep Ally's birthday small this year after the chaos of last year, but even with just family we had a total of 13 people at the party. We went out to dinner at the Heartville Kitchen then came back here for a cupcake cake that Ally picked from Giant Eagle. She opened her presents and received many Word World toys as well as some clothes, books, and a baby doll and stroller. She had a great time pushing the baby doll all over the place.
For Ally's actual birthday we went to McDonald's to play and then came home to have apple pie (her request) with candles. I had no candles and we used matchsticks instead. Ally learned that matchsticks are still hot even when the fire is gone and mommy learned that matchsticks don't make very good candles. But, the apple pie was good :)
Aaron keeps getting bigger and continues to be a very happy guy. He really only fusses if he's hungry (who doesn't?) and he sleeps very well. Earlier this week he was sitting with us during dinner and got really fussy so we decided to give him some rice cereal. He was interested, but in the end decided that it was not his food of choice. But, we'll keep trying, maybe he'll like it more once we can mix in some applesauce or a french fry... (some lady at Steak and Shake told me that her son ate fries at 3 months and her daughter was eating them as soon as she came home from the hospital???!!!)
I have found that Aaron really likes music and to be danced around. I put some on for Ally the other day and Aaron was having a blast bouncing and 'jumping.' The only problem is that as soon as Ally sees Aaron having fun she wants mommy to 'put Aaron down on floor' and let her do whatever he was doing. I guess that's what they call 'sibling rivalry.'
