1 Month Old

Today Aaron is 1 month old and to celebrate he predicted 6 more weeks of winter when he saw his shadow and went back to sleep. While most people were disappointed with this prediction, Ally was rather glad to hear that there will be more opportunity for sledding and snowman building. She enjoys doing both of these activities that Nana and Pop-pop Sam introduced her to. I don't have any photos of the sledding, (rumor has it that she'll do the small hills alone) but I do have pictures of her first snowman building experience. Ally, Daddy, Nana, and Pop-pop took advantage of some warmer weather to build some snowmen. They made 3 - Daddy, Ally, and Baby. Sadly the warmer weather meant that Baby's head fell off by the next morning and within 48 hours all 3 had collapsed to the ground. Since the snow melted we could not 'fix it' as Ally requested. But, for a day she really enjoyed looking out the window at the snowmen were looking back at her. Sadly, she's still awaiting snow to build more.

Ally preferred to eat the carrots...

As babies tend to do, Aaron has grown a bit over the past month. He packed on 2 lbs in three weeks so he's weighing somewhere near 10 lbs now. But, he's still little compared to other babies. He's also very cuddly. He prefers to be held and often cries if he realizes that he is in a room alone. He also (thankfully) still likes to sleep, though he is a very noisy sleeper. He makes lots of grunty sounds in his sleep making it hard for other people who are nearby to sleep well. I'm hoping he'll grow out of this since he's still waking up to eat once or twice between 12 and 8 am and we've still been sleeping right next to him. Sadly, both he and Ally have colds so Aaron noisy nights are even more so. I'm hoping that a humidifier and some Vicks will help with that.
Since we have been mostly staying at home we've been depending on Ally to entertain us and she doesn't fail to do so. We were blessed to have friends bring food for the past month and whenever we had visitors Ally provided a show for them to enjoy. Some of her acts include doing sit-ups and push-ups - daddy helps and she counts, she's counted all the way to 15 accurately (though she fudged the numbers as far as the sit-ups went). She also 'goes crazy.' I'll have to post video for the full effect but it involved Ally running full speed pumping her arms in and out in front of her. You could not try to look more white than she does but it is hilarious.

Ally's newest obsession is drawing. I got her a pad of notebook paper and she carries it around and draws. Drawing usually involves Ally dictating what she want you to draw. Requests usually include daddy, Pop-Pop Sam, Ally, sheep, the sun or moon, dogs, doors, bears, cows, apples, bananas, and flowers.Ally is also getting really good at remembering the words to songs. I love that she makes up her on version of the song titles based on the lyrics that she knows. 'Pock Rosy' is Ring around the Rosy, 'Bible Song' is The B-I-B-L-E, 'Banana' is Peel Bananas (a chant that I saw for a story time idea), 'Clap Hands' is Open Shut Them, 'Ant Song' is The Ants go Marching. There are more but I forget them until she make a request. Sometimes I have to think about song lyrics to figure out what she wants.

Like songs she also remembers books. I've been amazed at how well she remembers books that we haven't read for awhile. But when I ask her to read to me she'll open the book to a random page and give me a general overview of the text. She has quite the memory. She even sat through 2 pages of Hare (Harry) Potter, then took the book to read on her own :)

Yes! Another Potter fan! Well done. Hopefully she'll be able to get Aaron into books, too. :]

But it sounds like Ally is keeping you quite amused! I like the picture of her eating the carrot next to the snowman.
