4 Months This Friday!

This Friday our baby girl will be 4 months old! She just keeps growing and growing. We were at the doctors recently for her shots and she weighed in at 12 pound 1 ounce and was 24 inches long. That puts her in the 25th percentile for both height and weight. I guess she's a skinny little thing because she still can't wear any 3-6 month pants or shorts. She has the cutest jean skirt that is a bit too big, but she wears it anyway because it is so cute.
I'm back to working at the library now. So far it's not too bad, it helps that I enjoy working there. Football season has begun so Mike has been busy with that. He's coaching the freshman team and they are practicing every day. He's also excited that the NFL games are starting too - I could care less. Ally told me the other day that she doesn't mind it since she can nap with daddy during the games. She also mentioned that she is sick of Brett Farve's soap opera and really wishes that the Browns would start Brady Quinn - she's been a fan of his since before birth. I made her a onesie that says "I was told I like the BROWNS" and has the Brownie elf on it. I think if he had the choice Mike would put it on her every day.
We are still waiting for Ally to roll over. We thought she was sure to do it weeks ago, but not yet. I noticed today that when she was on her belly and about to roll she put her arm out to stop herself, so I guess she's just not ready. She is getting much better about spending time on her belly. Today she even tried crawling forward. She'd push with her feet like a little inch worm. I held a mirror in front of her and got her to move forward about a foot. So, we've given up on rolling and are working on crawling instead. Mike and I were joking that she'll be 18 and in college and be unable to roll over - or turn left (just like Derek Zoolander, male model extraordinaire).
She doesn't really have any new 'tricks' to report. She has been managing to suck her thumb better, though often she just shoves in any fingers that will fit. We get lots of smiles if we blow raspberries on her belly, I can even get real laughs from that. Ally loves to go outside and look around. If she's in a crabby mood we just head outside, as soon as we cross through the doorway she gets quiet and stares at everything. She's liking books more now that she can focus on the pictures so we read a little. She likes "If you give a Mouse a Cookie", though sometimes I change the story to "If you give mommy a cookie, she will want another...." she likes that version better since it involves shopping sprees and fad diets.
Ally had her first group play date last week. Almost all of the kids in our church group made it. Ally was the youngest, but there were two other babies who were born in February. In total there were 7 babies ages 2 and down - it was a crazy fun time. After that we drove to Canton and back twice (that's almost 2 hours total of driving) to buy some baby gates I found on Craig's list. I miss read the directions thus warranting 2 trips - luckily gas is really cheap these days...
Oh, I did add more photos to the Flickr link at the right of this page if you want to see those!
