In addition to diving in and out of the ball pit, Aaron will dive over just about anything that is in his way. It seems that there is no sense crawling two inches out of your way to the side when you can go eight inches up and over. Even when we try to get him to walk he takes a step or two and then dives at you.
Aaron had his appointment with the eye doctor about his clogged tear duct. It was a bit disappointing to pay $25 for her to tell me that yes it is clogged but she does not do the actual procedure so we will have to see someone else. I'm not sure why we just didn't go to someone who can do the procedure, but I guess on the plus side it gives us a little more time for it to clear up. On the downside the doctor did notice that Aaron is somewhat farsighted, to the point that if he were older he would be given glasses. There is a chance that his sight will improve as he gets older. Normally kids this age would not be given eye exams, so we may have to go back for that as well. The next doctor we see will be able to give a second opinion. Poor little guy. I know that glasses aren't a big deal, but I really don't want him to be the short kid in glasses.
Ally is still obsessing about the Little Drummer Boy. Lately we are all either Mary or Joseph and there have been a variety of baby Jesus (Elmo, Curious George, a bear, etc). Ally will be the little drummer boy who is lost trying to find his parents. The other day I put the nativity away when she was napping. She noticed right away and started asking for the 'army people'. (I'm not sure when the inn keeper enlisted.) I was excited to finally find a Little People Nativity set for less than $30 so I am hoping to make that her potty training reward next week. That way I can put away the ceramic set that Aaron keeps trying to eat.
Potty training is planned for next week. Thanks to the MLK holiday on Monday we will have three days with nowhere to be. I am hoping that she will pick it up quickly. She seems ready and had used the potty many times though not consistently.
I think that once potty trained Ally will officially be more teenager than baby. Today she refused to get out of bed until after 10. I went into her room at 9 to see if she was awake. She was up, but told me that she wasn't ready to get up. She does this sometimes and since she is still in a crib she just calls for us when she is ready to get up. Usually after a few minutes she'll be ready to get up. Today she stayed in bed for over an hour. I checked several times but she kept saying 'not yet.' Finally, when she asked for a cookie I told her she had to get out of bed first. Guess who got up?
| Most kids eat their waffles at 8am in the kitchen. Ally has hers at 11am, in the living room, with a drum. |
